| EDWARD WESSON, RI, RBA, RSMA (1910 -
1983) |
| |
| Edward Wesson, one of Britains most outstanding 20th Century
watercolourists, was born in Blackheath London in 1910. He started painting at
the age of 20 and adopted his own pure and simple style, painting with a french
polisher's mop and drawing with a matchstick or sharpened lollipop stick. He
was elected a member of the RI (Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour) in
1952 and public recognition was further enhanced by commissions for British
Rail and the Post Office Savings Bank. Wesson was also a tireless teacher,
writing articles for The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines as
well as tutoring painting holidays. |
